Deflation

Since I've been looking to stop the inflation of my caboose I decided to take the plunge and do a detox along with the training I've been doing (and loving).
This "whole foods" detox was recommended by Trainer and includes certain fruits, veges, lean organic meats, nuts, and some other stuff that doesn't catch your eye when ordering from a take-out menu. There's no caffeine or alcohol. And red meat, dairy, and eggs are a no-no as well.
Part of this torture is to get my insulin levels in check and decrease my "sweet" cravings.
So, I am at the end of day 3 (of 14) and I must say, I feel extraordinary!!!
I haven't had the urge to eat an entire yellow cake with chocolate frosting AND I'm no longer snacking at night.
These are my biggest "food issues". I could honestly eat an entire bag of cookies and still crave more.
I have also been a huge fan of eating after 8 which is now the time of day I am least hungry.
With all this cleansing I'm realizing how crappy some of the stuff was that was invited into my mouth.
My body has been screaming with joy and energy these past few days.
The hardest part though, is remembering that I can't shove just any food within eyesight down the hatchet.
I actually have to stop and think.
For the time being I guess I've left a food coma.
Now just another 11 days to go.

Detoxingly yours,
Roundtooth

You do the math

This morning I had a date with the beast.
Otherwise known as the elliptical machine.
So as me and my caboose were chugging along I managed to hold a conversation with Trainer & a fellow caboose chugger on the beast next to me.
Trainer was telling us about these "pills" that were endorsed by some baseball player many years ago. Both types of pills (there were two) promised the world with their catchy names. Something like, "Skinny in a Bottle".....
Anyway, we were laughing at how ridiculous that name is and how even more ridiculous it was that people believed in it.
Then we moved on to discussing good old Fen-Phen.
Remember that one from years ago???
Sure it would make you thin.
As long as you didn't mind a little heart disease or pulmonary hypertension to go along with your weight loss.
It's like those commercials for antibiotics..."Reduces sinus allergies but may cause dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, loose stools, loss of appetite, vomiting, and headaches." LOL
Sorry for the sidetrack.
So we all came to the conclusion that most of us are either aware of or in complete denial of.
No one that is overweight, whether it be by 10 pounds or a 100 pounds, sat down one day and said, "ok, I'm going to gain all this weight by the end of the month."
With that said, why would we expect to take the weight off so quickly and effortlessly?
Chances are (for me at least) I got myself into this pickle by not eating right and not doing enough exercise.
The obvious solution (like a MAC truck ramming into my fat arse) is to do the OPPOSITE.
Eat right and exercise.
Duh!
I've been following this equation now for just over 2 weeks. I've had my weak moments which I'm actually glad happened.
It's a reminder, a test, a fork in the road.
It's a wake-up call as to how incredibly CRAPPY certain foods make me feel after I've consumed them.
I officially crave the workouts. It's such a wonderful feeling.
Something to look forward to that is healthy for my mind and body.
Trainer plans on checking my body FAT again in 2 months.
I look forward to sharing my current and future percentages with you all in June.
Wish me luck!

A prayer before we begin

Rise and shine my little muffins!

In a matter of minutes I will have my second encounter with "Trainer".
Having had the day off from him yesterday I remember the instructions he had given me.
He warned me that my body would be sore and my mind's thought would be to rest for the day.
"But just go for a walk", he said.
"You don't even have to "power" walk.  Just walk."
And so I did.
A full hour to be precise.
It felt fabulous keeping my mind free of the aches erupting in my thighs and quads (ha! I said quads and wasn't trying to make a joke).
Although I find myself still sore this morning.
Yes, I know this is normal.
But is my freight train of a butt going to make it through the workout that is now only 48 minutes away???

Dear God Who Art In Heaven,

Please give my ample dariaire the strength and agility to complete this mission otherwise
known as an hour of strength training.
I trust in you oh Great One to not put any exercise obstacle in my way that my arse can not handle.

Thank you Sir and have a blessed day,
Roundtooth
