With the day off from work I found myself lounging at the park this afternoon.
(Not a normal occurrence for Roundtooth mind you)
The OCD in me made sure I had my SUV of a purse in hand as I marked my spot on the grassy knoll with my queen size beach towel.
God forbid one be separated from phone, a wide variety of chapsticks, 2 books (Skinny Bitch & the other a guide on Buddha), 2 pairs of shades, daily planner, and the crummy reminder of an old bag of crackers.
Like a plane dumping it's remaining fuel over El Segundo, I poured the bag out onto the towel and make a POA (plan of action) as to what I'll do 1st, 2nd, 3rd while "relaxing" in the park.
After about 12 minutes of reading, 15 minutes of text messaging, and 2 applications of chapstick (one being Burt's Bees & the other Kiehls), I found myself questioning my relaxation method.
Do I need any of this material to relax?
Hmm....
No!
I only need me, myself, and I.
So there I sat in the pose that my yoga teacher would begin class with.
Sitting up straight in indian style.
Hands relaxed on knees imagining a string was pulling my belly button in up through the top of my head.
With cheekbones and eyebrows relaxed I set my intention.
Just relax.
Slowly but surely I became a mold of jello.
What an incredible and often unappreciated state of bliss.
For someone who could win a gold metal in multitasking I was able to put my 80 mph lifestyle aside and just be.
Just be.
Try it sometime.
You'll be happy you did.
Namaste,
Roundtooth

That sounds about right. I think we all have a hard time "just being". It's like when Carrie from Sex and the City went to a restaurant with nothing and ate by herself. No book or any distractions, just herself. It sounds so easy but is hard as hell to do!
